The new Overwatch hero, Orisa is live now on the PTR. If you want to try her out be sure to go on the PTR and give feedback to Blizzard, but before you do so be sure to read everything below to learn more about her.
Orisa’s Origin story explains all her lore. How she got created by Efi and how she saved the people of Numbani.
After you have seen this be sure to check out the Developer Update in which Game Director Jeff Kapplan explains how Orisa got made and what Blizzards vision behind the character is.
So by now you probably now that Orisa is a stationary tank hero that uses abilities that are similar to other heroes in the game. This means that if you know your way around other heroes you will get used to her faster than normal.
Check out all her abilities below to find out what abilities are similar to others.
Orisa’s automatic projectile cannon delivers sustained damage, but slows her movement while she fires it.
Her main firing ability looks a lot like bastions stationary attack. Bullets come flying quickly with a large ammo clip, making reloading a rare occurrence. You can compare the slow with D.va’s main firing ability.
Orisa temporarily reduces damage she takes, and cannot be affected by action-impairing effects.
Fortify makes Orisa an unstoppable force, take Reinhardt for instance. When an enemy Reinhardt charges into an Orisa with Fortify up, the Reinhardt will instead stun himself and take the damage. In other words it makes Orisa invulnerable to other abilites for a couple seconds. Think how many ults you can dodge with that!
Orisa launches a graviton charge which she can detonate, slowing nearby enemies and pulling them towards the explosion.
Yep, this ability is a small Graviton Surge, aka Zarya’s ult. You can use this ability to pull enemies around corners, place them all on one big heap or push them into a cliff.
Orisa throws out a stationary barrier that can protect her and her allies from enemy fire.
Orisa’s most important ability will be her barrier. She can place it anywhere in her line of sight to protect a teammate or herself. Beware, the barrier is stationary so be smart in where you place it and play around it as well.
Orisa deploys a device to increase damage inflicted by allies within her line of sight.
The Supercharger is Orisa’s ultimate ability and is a combination of a Symmetra teleporter and an Ana boost. In the case that it is a stationary object that needs to be defended by the team and gives a damage buff to everyone in sight of the Supercharger. So be sure to place it in sight of your teammates but not to close to the enemy team. Tip: Place it somewhere far back in the team fight to make the enemy team overextend heavily.
Oh, and these are the Legendary Skins you want to get:
All you guys need to do now is get some practice in with her as soon as possible! Be sure to hit up the PTR and give feedback to Blizzard when you can!
