Hearthstone Card Reveal: Blood-Queen Lana’Thel

Recently Blizzard announced the new Knights of the Frozen Throne-expansion, which will release in August. The expansion will bring 135 new cards to the table, but some of those cards are already being revealed before the release of Knights of the Frozen Throne. One of these cards is a new Warlock Legendary: Blood-Queen Lana’thel.

Blood-Queen Lana’thel is a 1/6 card that will cost five mana. This seems like a pretty lackluster statline for a five mana-card, but Lana’thel has some tricks up her sleeve. She will gain +1 attack for every card you discarded during the game. Since this effect is not triggered by a Battlecry, she will keep gaining attack damage as long as you keep discarding cards, even if she’s already on the board.

The second trick Lana’thel brings to the table is the brand new “Lifesteal”-effect. This allows your hero to heal for the amount of damage your minions with Lifestehaeal do. While Lana’thel won’t be the only KotFT-card that has this effect, she synergises extremely well with a Warlock. Lifesteal allows her to offset the damage a Warlock does to himself while activating his hero-power and with the ability to buff up her damage significantly, she has the possibility to heal a Warlock from the brink of certain death.

It will be interesting to see if Blood-Queen Lana’thel will find her way in some of the top decks for the coming seasons. Her passives synergise extremely well with discard-decks and Warlocks in general, but remember that only a couple of the 135 total cards have been revealed so far. Maybe the best has yet to come.
